Pre-School Aged Lessons

We also conduct lessons for Pre-School Aged students every morning and afternoon from Monday to Saturday. The classes for Pre-School aged children are very popular and with a maximum of four (4) children per class, lesson times are booked heavily for almost nine months of the year.

Just like all the other classes at the Swim School, no “back bubbles” or “arm floats” floatation aids are used to teach the Pre-School aged students. Remember, rarely will toddlers or preschoolers fall into a pool unexpectedly with floatation aids on. In most cases children will unexpectedly fall into a body of water with clothes and shoes on.

In this level, the outcome is to teach children to be able to swim 8m unaided before they begin to learn the basics of “Overarm” and “Stroking”. Typically, if children have attended lessons consistently, we see children as young as 3.5 years of age be able to do this set skill.

Quick tip – Be prepared! Going under water and swimming with your head down is the goal for this level, so buy a good pair of comfortable – child sized – goggles and practice with them on at home in the bath and shower. Swimming caps also help for those children with long hair.

When selecting staff to teach this level we look for people who have a genuine passion and a natural teaching style with very young children. Typically, instructors are either parents themselves or studying to be qualified school teachers.

Classes for this level are conducted from 830am to 12pm and 3pm to 630pm every 30 minutes Monday to Friday.

Saturday and Sunday classes run every 30 minutes from 730am right through to 1200pm.
